The serene location of Twinbrook Retreat, near the eastern border of beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is steeped in a rich history. Originally part of a land grant from Pennsylvania’s founder William Penn to his brother in the 1700’s, the property boasts an 18th century barn, and while its rolling fields are home to a vast array of wildlife, including deer and wild turkeys.
In 2015, a local contractor purchased this beautiful property. After seeking the Lord's will regarding the proper usage of the land, renovations began. The grounds were excavated and the historic barn was modernized in function and enhanced in beauty. In 2017, Twinbrook Retreat opened its doors to begin hosting meetings, banquets, and Bible studies.
For Thou desirest not sacrifice; else I would give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:16-17
2014 is a year forever etched in Merv's heart. For it was during that year that he went through a radical transformation in his life. Merv grew up in a conservative community – hard work, go to church, dress right, talk right. These are all good things, yet something was missing. God opened Merv's eyes to see that without the love of God in his life, all of his hard work, successful business, and church attendance was absolutely worthless. The Lord broke through and Merv was undone before a Holy God. As a result, radical changes came. Everything is now done for the Lord's glory. With this new conviction, Merv sensed the Lord's direction to use the blessings God gave him to help others come closer to Christ. Merv's heart is to create an environment where people can glorify God and experience the richness and fullness of His presence. This is why Twinbrook Retreat exists.
